Based in Melbourne Australia, I'm a professional musician and play mostly in the jazz genres. Part of this is playing in a number of bands, some of which I have made videos of below.
The 'On the gig' series.
As a professional musician I do a lot of gigs. Often these gigs are done by bands that are more 'throw together' bands. The music is unrehearsed, which sometimes adds and sometimes detracts. The 'On the gig' series is a an attempt to capture some of these and also record and display a little of what a musician does from day to day. I have also included in this series, videos of bands that are rehearsed but where the video has been recorded live.

Sweet Lorraine | Solo Jazz Guitar Performance
Sweet Lorraine (Cliff Burwell, 1928).
I love Nat King Cole's recording of this, though for energy, I was thinking about how Oscar Peterson might play it. Not for the number of notes, but rather the heavy 2 and 4 accent. It's getting cold, so finger work in the shed is a little tricky at night. As such, I tried to use more pick in general, which also helped create a more energetic vibe.
I'm interested in exploring soloing while keeping the 4-to-the-floor accompaniment, which is so unique to guitar. I'm trying to blur the line here between picking and strumming, using a bass note chord alternating pattern.

Here's a version of "Stardust" I've been working on. I wanted to explore triad harmonization of the melody as a contrast to the stride style. Thanks heaps. A Gibson 335 from 2007 I think...around then. It's nice enough to play, though I probably would buy it again as there's other more interesting guitars going cheaper.
